Fairy tale in London

The weather outside is perfect for telling the next story. Once upon a time, there was a beautiful girl who wanted to see the world. On a beautiful Friday she took Mădă, the red panda and together they started a new journey through time and space. A modern carriage with engines and wings flew them over fluffy clouds. The flight was long but the girl was prepared for that. She packed with her books to make time pass faster. In that mystic city, called London, a knight in shinny armor was waiting for her, to show her his kingdom. They jumped directly in 1066, where the warriors of King Harold were preparing for The Battle of Hastings. A Saxon-style encampment was set up in Hyde Park, where there were weapons, food and pottery demonstrations. They left behind the brave warriors and continued their walk through parks: Green Park, St Jame's Park. The small creatures living there: playful squirrels, gooses, ducks and others, were spotted at each step. Once they reac...

Back in Brussels

I just came back from Brussels. I've been gone for a week. I found Brussels changed. Or I've changed and I see things differently. Now I can understand better my friends who work among strangers. Anyway.. It hasn't been all about work. In the evening I had some time to discover new places. I arrived on Sunday afternoon. View from my hotel room After I checked-in I went out with my colleagues. First we went to eat to Ellis Gourmet . Honestly, I was disappointed about the food there. It used to be better. Then we moved to  O'Reilly's for drinks. Beer with view to Bourse On the next evening we went for a walk in Gran Place. I love the shades of blue it had in that day. Otherwise the place is full with tourists. On Tuesday I went with some friends to  La Fontaine . This is a nice place near European Commission. The waitress was Romanian. I had a delicious salad with hot goat cheese, honey and bacon bits. Wednesday afternoon view from my room...

When in Belgium

A short intro why I need to write at this moment about my first experience in Belgium. Last night I had a nightmare. I was in a train/subway and after we left the station, it stopped suddenly. Then the train driver announced: "Don't panic!". In that moment I knew the train was hijacked. My panic mode installed, I couldn't move at all. I remember at some point the doors opened and some people got out, but I was blocked and afraid if I go out I will be shot. And then my bed broke and I woke up :)). This dream made me think a lot. And then I figured it out. In one week I will travel to Brussels. It will be the first time I travel there after the attacks. I realized what a huge impact those unhappy events had on me. But why? That's the question. First I thought it's related with the fact that's the route to my office. But then I dug up more and... I remembered Cristina's remark from last night: "It will be so nice to go alone in a foreign city and di...

Home, sweet home

Here I am, in a train, going back to Bucharest. This weekend I came home for my cousin's wedding. It's like I've entered in a different world. I can't stop watching people around and observing how we worry about everything.  We give too many fucks as Mark Manson said in one of his posts. My train has a delay of 15 minutes and I saw people getting angry. Why wasting so much energy on this? There's nothing we can do about it. We should stop worrying about things that are beyond us. Ok, what if we get with 15 minutes earlier to our destination? Then we will start running for another one, and so on.. We will never stop running. It should be all about the journey. 15 minutes plus to reflect on yourself. Andra gave me before going to Amsterdam a mindful traveller guide and there was something in there worth mentioning: the now moment takes only few seconds till becomes past. We should stop running and enjoy the present. I'm happy I achieved this, to enjoy the ride...

Rendez-vous à Paris

It's September. Summer ended. The following months I will be traveling a lot: Brussels, London, Berlin, Madrid, Barcelona. Till then a little post about my trip to Paris from last year. One year ago in this time I was writing my bachelor thesis. It was a stressful period. But I managed to finish it in time and celebrate the success with a weekend in Paris. I met with Florin there, my traveling companion. I was the first arriving. I remember the weather wasn't so great. It was cloudy. At some point it also started to rain. My journey started with Arc de Triomphe, a long walk on Avenue des Champs-Élysées, Place de la Concorde. I rested on a bench in Jardin des Tuileries, watching the ducks. Then I went to admire the pyramid outside the Musée du Louvre. Next stop: Sacré-Cœur. In this neighborhood I got lost. I didn't have wifi reception and my offline map wasn't working. I remember I was looking for a specific subway station with direct connection to the ...

BEST Summer course in Stockholm

I will continue the sequence about my past journeys. I made a cup of green ice tea with jasmine and I'm ready to share the next story. Two years ago, in June 2014 I had the opportunity to attend this event in Stockholm organised by BEST. I remember I was accepted in the last moment. For this I had to postpone for autumn session one exam. But it was worth it. I don't regret anything. That week in Stockholm was memorable. That was my first flight. It was special because I was doing this alone. It gave me courage and confidence. Fluffy clouds There I met a lot of wonderful people. That was the moment I realized I should travel more. It was a full week with morning classes and parties until sunrise. Well.. in that time it was almost always day light. I remember I was woken up by the sun lights in the morning, and I was afraid I'm going to be late. But then I realized it was just 6 am in the morning and I had another two hours for sleep. Oh my God.. I did a lot of craz...
