An Enthusiastic Traveller

Singapore is the last stop of this holiday. The initial plan was to stay only 3 nights and then head to Jakarta for another 2 nights and return from there back to Amsterdam. Due to the floods from the beginning of the year in Jakarta I decided to spend the rest of the holiday in Singapore and fly to Jakarta only for the return flight to Amsterdam. In these past days I revisited some places and also discovered new ones. I will share some of my favourites spots.  I will start with Gardens by the Bay . This is one of the spots I revisited and I loved walking around during night time. Daily at 7.45pm, 8.45pm you can enjoy the Garden Rhapsody, a signature light and sound show at Supertree Grove. After Phi Phi Islands we went to Kuala Lumpur for three nights, just to taste a little bit the Malay culture. When you have a short time to spend in such a big city you have to dose your energy and time for the most important attractions. I know I will come back to KL so I didn't run to see everything. The next recommendations are not exactly in the chronological order. I will start with the main symbol of KL: the Petronas Twin towers, which were the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 to 2004. At the feet of the Petronas Towers there is Suria KLCC, one of the largest shopping malls in Malaysia, featuring mostly foreign luxury goods and high-street labels.  If you stay late in the evening in the area you might also stay for the Lake Symphony, a magical performance of light, sound and water, at the esplanade outside of Suria KLCC. As I mentioned in my last post, from Bangkok we went to Ko Phi Phi Don (pronounced Pee-Pee). We flew to Krabi and from Klong Jirad Pier we took the boat. Tip: don't buy return ticket from Krabi. I bought one and it was more expensive than the ones sold on the island and I couldn't use it for the earliest boat departing from the island. To get from the airport to the pier, Grab is your friend. The boat ride is ~2h.  Ko Phi Phi Don is a party island, especially the area of Tonsai beach and Loh Dalum beach. If you are looking for activities less touristic I have some suggestions.  Firstly, if you look on google maps you will see that most beaches are accessible only by boat, but it's not true. A local from a restaurant recommended Maps.me which has all the marked roads on the island.  I am not saying that a ride with a longtail boat is not nice.
